In remembrance of Ruth Kemere Betz

“It was with our deepest sorrow that we said goodbye to my beloved wife Ruth on November 26th, 2018 after a long illness.

She has gone home to be with her heavenly father. Deeply saddened, but also with a heartfelt Hallelujah, we released her into the hands of God, who is the lover of our souls, and into an eternal home prepared by Him.

She lived for Christ, therefore to die is her gain. She left us too soon. Many earnest prayers are left unanswered, but in the end what matters is the blessings one leaves behind rather than the number of days spent on this earth. As her husband, I had the privilege of seeing the many lives she uniquely touched and inspired.

She had a tremendous amount of love for the children and mothers she served, regardless of the challenging background of their origin. She wanted to set an example with her life, and that earned her the respect of the poor, and also the respect of the wealthy and powerful.

She was bold, colorful and did not shy away from speaking out when she saw injustice or ignorance affecting children or those of lesser means.

Her ideas and vision would have sufficed for 10 lives. We hope that her vision of a world, filled with love and compassion for children and the needy in Ethiopia, will be carried out by others. She desired to see a world where children are unconditionally accepted and where they experience authentic Christianity that transforms their hearts and makes their lives fruitful. I, Klaus, take the responsibility that has fallen on me full-heartedly.”
